Gongura senagapappu
curry is the famous and favorite recipe in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Gongura is known as
Andhra Matha which means mother of Andhra Food. Gongura chenapappu is a mouth
watering recipe. This is simple, very tasty, iron rich and easy to make.
This is one of my
favorite recipe, it tastes too yum when served with rice and chapati.

INGREDIENTS
Gongura/
sorrel leaves/ pitwa: 10 strands
Oil: 3 tsp
Mustard seeds: ½ tsp
Cumin/Jeera: ½ tsp
Onion: 3 cubed
Garlic: 8 cloves
lightly smashed
Salt: as needed
Curry leaves: 1 string
Turmeric: ¼ tsp
Green chilies: 100 Gms
Senagapappu/ Bengal gram/ channa dal: 100 gm
Dry chili: 3
METHOD
1.
First wash and
pressure cook senagapappu/Bengal gram for 2-3 whistles.
2. Cut and wash Gongura/ sorrel leaves thoroughly, check properly
for any insects or spoiled leaves.
3. Heat a pan, add Gongura, green chilies, cover with lid and let
them cook for 5 mins.

Take from the flame
and let it cool. Then grind it and keep aside.

Again heat a pan,
add oil, mustard and cumin. When it splutters add garlic, dry chili, curry
leaves.

Now add onions and
fry till colors changes.

Add senagapappu and
mix well, cook for 5 mins.

To this add turmeric
and salt.
9.
Finally add Gongura paste
and mix well.
10.
Turn off the flame.

Our Gongura senagapappu
recipe is ready to serve.
TIP:
- It goes well when served with rice or chapati.
